Drowning in a Sea of Bad Advice
Jake Kodweis is a metal producer and audio engineer based in Rochester, New York. He'd been freelancing seriously for about five years before joining the program, but he was stuck in the $1,000 to $2,000 per month range with brutal swings. One month could be $3,000. The next could be $800.
“I was just underwater in a whole sea of YouTube information and advice from a whole bunch of different people, grasping at straws. Maybe this thing over here or that thing over there. I'd try things for a week or a couple weeks at a time, and it was just a fog. Nothing was working. I had no focus.”
He was posting on social media without a strategy, doing manual outreach that went nowhere, and spending all his time on things that weren't moving the needle. The dream was to work less and make more. The reality was 70-hour weeks, barely scraping by, and hardly seeing his two young kids.
The Wake-Up Call
A medical event with a family member forced Jake to confront the imbalance in his life.
“It put me in a mental state and changed my perspective on a lot of things. I woke up to the fact that I was working so much I had zero time for my family. And that's what's super important to me.”
He'd worked the nine-to-five before and hated being told what to do. Freelancing was the dream. But without a system, he was just trading one grind for a worse one. He knew he needed accountability, guidance, and a real strategy. He'd already used Brian's earlier course, Six Figure Home Studio, and seen results. So when the Clients by Design ads started showing up, he trusted the source and pulled the trigger.
No More Outreach. No More Guessing.
The biggest shift? Jake doesn't do outreach anymore. At all.
“I don't f*ing do any outreach anymore. I might reach out to a band because I want to, not because I need to. But for what feeds my family and what pays the bills, I don't have to rely on that.”
The majority of his new leads come through direct offer ads. He pairs that with social media content that builds trust and social proof, and a funnel that catches people who've been following him for months or years. The system runs on its own.
“It's cleaned up so much time for me. I'm working less now. I think I've ever worked in my life.”
The Numbers
The transformation from where Jake started:
• Before: $800 to $2,000/month, working 70-hour weeks, no system, no predictability
• After: $4,800/month minimum, booked two months out, working about 20 hours a week
• Best week: $10,000 in closed projects (two albums in one week)
• Best month: $14,000 in closed deals
• Zero outreach required. All leads come through his ads and funnel
• Could double it to $10K/month by adding two more mixes per week, but that's not the point
“The point was to work less and make more. We've hit that goal and broken through that ceiling. And it's awesome.”
Getting His Family Back
The numbers matter, but for Jake the real win is time.
Before the program, he was texting his wife that he'd be late again. Now he finishes work and actually gets to be present with his two young kids and his wife.
“I finish work now instead of texting my wife saying I'll be late. I get to be there.”
He came into the program with one goal: build something real while being the dad and husband he wanted to be. He did both.
"This is a proven system. It's worked for me. It's worked for a bunch of other people. Don't be scared of the change. When people say they don't know about the investment, it's usually fear of something else. Don't be scared. Just follow the instructions, do what you have to do, and you will be rewarded. You can get rid of all that frustration, all that working 80 hours a week and not knowing where the money's gonna come from. It works. Just go for it. Just jump."— Jake Kodweis, Kodweis Audio
